What is the JSP Foundation?
The JSP Foundation, Inc. was established to honor the memory
of Joel Stephen Pollack, a man who dreamed of a better world for children. Joel saw the value of literature and
music in people's lives and had just started to take steps to do his part in ensuring that the knowledge found
in books and the joy gained from music were in the lives of those less fortunate.
Having personally experienced enrichment and growth through books
and music, Joel Pollack saw first-hand the value of these resources. At the time of his death, he was just beginning
to get involved with organizations that served underprivileged children. The JSP Foundation will continue to fulfill
his dreams and raise awareness and funds that will provide the important tools and resources for these young people.

Activities and Operational
Information
The JSP Foundation will raise funds primarily through ticket
sales to public music concerts and other events produced by the Foundation and individual donations. A committee
composed of Joel's family and friends will select the music presented at the concerts. Members of the committee
will have a history and familiarity with Joel Pollack allowing them to assemble people and appropriate music that
were of interest to and importance in Joel's life. In addition, the concerts will raise awareness about the Foundation's
work and invite additional contributions that will support the Foundation's work.
The first concert is scheduled for November 6, 1999 in New York
City. The Foundation plans to produce events each year to raise awareness of the work they are doing and bring
together the many people in Joel's world to celebrate his life.
Funds will be disbursed following quarterly meetings of the Trustees
of The JSP Foundation. During the first year of operation, funds will be allocated to organizations with which
Joel Pollack had an established relationship. (Joel volunteered with several groups in the NYC area.) In addition,
guidelines for distribution of the funds will be written and letters of application from appropriate organizations
will be invited. The Trustees will unanimously approve all grants and require a report from the recipient organization
three months following the close of the grant period.
